My Golden Hour

Welcome to a brand new and exciting world. you are a rare hybrid Golem abandoned in the forest who has just woken up from a deep slumber. why are you here? where did you come from?you want to find your way back home, but have no clue where to go or what to find. you dust off your legs and set off for a grand journey through the unwinding forest and new world you’ve never seen before. the sun is bright, and the path is clear. can you make it back home? We are in a world where technology has advanced and humans are creating androids as workers in their day to day lives. There were a few workshops that had old androids that were left behind for a newer world. One particular android was deeply connected to his master. His master created a heart for him, a heart that gave him love and life. With this heart, he could make music and be guided back home. His owner left his workshop in a hurry escaping from the rock gollums. Regretfully, our protagonist was left behind. On a search for his master, he finds his home, his heart, and the new city which will be his new home, and his new life.

Background: In a forgotten, but thriving forest, a lost golem seeks a place called home. Abandoned and curious, the golem journeys across large branches and roots, rolling hills and open air to go back home. Now seen as ancient, how far will he be willing to go for a chance to see home one more time?

This is a deciduous forest. Plants here lost their leaves to conserve water or to better survive winter weather condition, and they regrow new foliage during the growing season.

Hero Prop Mechanic Isometric Sketches


1.) The mechanic for this would involve a contraption that can be used as transportation. It would transport the player from one platform to the next.
2.)This mechanic involves a light mechanic in order to proceed. The player would collect a lighting source that would allow the player to crawl into the cave and proceed onward.
3.)Vines would be in the way of the pathway. The player would use a strong enough sword/scissors to cut through the path.
4.) This mechanic involves more of a puzzle obstacle. The player would find a contraption that would need to be put together to be placed into the ground near the gate in order for it to open. This would allow the door to descend downwards.
5.) This mechanic involves smog and gas impeding the way of the player. The player would need to find a strong enough mask to proceed through the thick smog.
6.) This mechanic would follow a magnetic synchronization. The player would collect a contraption that would connect with the mechanics of the gate. Then they would sync through magnetic forces
7.)This would require a zipline and an object to slide across the rope. The player would need to rummage around to find the correct piece to the zipline.
8.) For this mechanic, the player would use a goo projectile. This goo would act as sort of a flexible trampoline that wold allow the player to jump over the obstacle.
9.) The player would grab a strong contraption that would collide with the gate and explode, causing a large hole to be created.
10.) This mechanic would require a strong contraption to break a path through big roots.

Environment concept idea/conceptualization

Progress shot of environment concept.
I am currently working on a digital environment piece. Right now,  I am editing and correcting the contrast. I realized I should have fully conceptualized the piece out before attempting to render, however I can use a black and white mask to help distinguish contrast among the piece as I continue to correct and fix.

I was inspired by forgotten mechanics that have been hidden away in high mountains or forests. I wanted to see if I could incorporate a rocky terrain, but also implement foliage to the piece to accentuate the atmosphere and mood I am trying to portray. I will continue to edit the color and focus on the contrast before completely refining this piece.

I created this piece from just memory of assets, and did not study any pieces. Once I finish this environment concept, I will study foliage and water some more. That way, should I conceptualize another environment that incorporates the same or similar assets as this one, I will have more experience and a more refined skill-set to tackle it.

This is just for fun and to help me get back into the swing of digital media!

Monster Mash Commercial

For my arena, I created a commercial that showcases the emotion and tone of the map! I tried to imitate 80s commercial that are overly excited and loud. I used adobe audition to alter voice clips to make them sound similar to monster sounds! Overall, I enjoyed creating this. It allowed me to be a little silly and showcase my map! The cars used were cars that we as a class had to created individually.

Arena commercial

For my commercial, I am interested in exploring the idea of the fear of monsters. To lure players, I feed off their confidence and courage. In these sketches, I tug at their courage by questioning their confidence at battling the monsters under their bed. If they want a chance to show how strong they are, theyll take the chance to play in this arena.
The first shot will be a scenematic of my BP_Platform class, which looks like a monster hiding under your bed. The second will be a long shot of the whole arena, with some set dressing around it to further convey the theme. The third will be a close shot of whatever vehicle on the arena. I will include in game footage of players attacking each other, and exploding. I will also have close ups of the unique selling points (raising teeth, platforms) and the final scene will be the camera rotating as it plummets into the teeth at the center of the arena until it fades to pitch black.

Battle Field Arena

For this assignment, we were to create our own theme battlefield. I used the theme "monsters" for my battlefield. 4 players battle  to the death with custom vehicles and must avoid obstacles in the arena. Some of these obstacles include teeth, moving platforms, and pit falls. I had health pick up at the center of the arena so all players can see it, but they also have to avoid the opening and closing of the teeth in order to retrieve it. I distributed weapon pick ups around the arena so players have an incentive to use the whole space. If players were to fall from the ramps, they will be met with damage-inducing teeth!

Boss Battle Research and planning

Boss Battle for Adventure Game:

       Should be similar to Nevergleans (current enemies of Everglean Horizon)
       More bulky and bigger (dull red or dull green maybe?)
When injured, boss will make low screech, similar to the main players.
Boss will jump out of bushes. Still thinking about having him float or stay grounded at all times.
If floating, the first stage would be floating, the next stage will be him floating and moving more, and final stage will be him grounded, and the hardest stage.

1st stage:

   Jumps out of bushes
   Moves left and right, but not back and forth just yet.
   Uses melee attacks, rarely uses projectiles (on a delay?)
  

2nd stage:

  Moves left and right and up and down.
  Melee attacks have longer range
  Summons Nevergleans for player to defeat

3rd stage:

Enraged mode.

Moves in an X along with up and down, left and right
Melee attacks still have long range
Nevergleans spawn
Having summoned falling projectiles

Might include hide spots or cover spots for falling projectiles.
Might spawn berries so players can heal.

Health: Green, yellow, purple.
Green:1st stage
Yellow:2nd stage
Purple:3rd stage

Might add custom UMG if enough time

Weapon Blueprinting/Particles


 
 For my tank weapon, I am interested in incorporating line trace so that the player will have an understanding on where the weapon will aim. I was intrigued in messing around with projectile movement, and how I can edit how I would want my weapon to interact. My idea is to create a weapon that is powered by collected wind energy. When the weapon is ready to shoot, it will emit the energy and convert it into electricity. It would then charge for half a second and shoot out an electric sphere. This sphere would then implode on itself, creating a radial force of damage. I am thinking about using a homing projectile that will always shoot above the enemy, and rain down the radial force from above. 

The player will be damaged via homing projectile. The result will be the enemy stunned for a few seconds. I would like to have a charge-up sound, and a powerful boom as it shoots from the weapon. Once the projectile reaches its target, I will add an explosive/implosive sound that will make the enemy aware that the weapon has gone off.

Everglean Horizon

Everglean Horizon is an adventure exploration in which the player must find their way through Everglean Forest in order to reunite with your tribe. You fell into a river and were taken far away down the stream. You do not know where you are at, but you are confident you can get home. Along the way, youll encounter objects to help you traverse through the forest, find berries that will increase and decrease your strength, and Nevergleans who will wish to steal your berries and do you harm. Can you make it back home before the sun sets?

The game currently has a few issues with item collection and checkpoints.
